Cost / Duration Price: US $1,995, UK £1,499 + VAT | Duration: 5 days
Pre-requisites

A good knowledge of MS Windows 95, 98 or NT Version 4 is essential. Solid programming experience with VB 5 or VB 6, at least to the level of our introductory course, is assumed.

Who Should Attend?

The course is intended for programmers and analysts who want to explore the more advanced aspects of VB 6. It is particularly suitable for experienced VB 5 users requiring an upgrade to the new features in Visual Basic 6.

Course Benefits

VB 6 provides a powerful set of tools for building C/S and web-based information systems, which are becoming increasingly important. VB is also particularly suitable for the easy and rapid creation of robust 'building blocks' based on COM (or ActiveX) technology. The course introduces a wide range of powerful techniques, which will be invaluable in solving real-world problems.

You Will Learn How To:

Develop robust, reusable ActiveX components in VB, including DLLs and ActiveX controls
Program MS Office 97 applications such as Word and Excel from within VB applications
Design and implement C/S systems
Write programs that use the power of Data Access Objects (DAO) and MS's new ActiveX Data Objects (ADO)
Use powerful VB6 data tools to access data in MS SQL Server and MS Access
Write server-side Internet applications that use VB code to respond to user requests from a browser
Explore VB's Dynamic HTML capabilities
Build systems which use Distributed COM (DCOM)
